Blackjack is one of the most popular games at land-based and online casinos. While there is an element of chance involved in the game, Blackjack is also based on strategy. Blackjack players all strive to become the best of the best only an elite few have been able to attain that title. The players listed below are considered to be the best blackjack players of all time.
Edward Thorp
Edward Thorp is the father of card counting and wrote a book titled ‘Beat the Dealer’ which discussed the Ten Count system. This system was then revised into the High-Low Count in the 2nd edition of the book.
Ken Uston
Ken Uston, a student of Thorp, was the first Blackjack player to become famous. Uston was featured on ‘60 Minutes’ and nearly every other media channel. He is also the author of Ken Uston on Blackjack and Million Dollar Blackjack which are both some of the best books about blackjack strategy and gaming.
Stanford Wong
Stanford Wong is the author of one of the most influential Blackjack books in history called Professional Blackjack. Wong started counting cards when he was 12 years old and has since received his Ph.D. in statistics and published two additional books called Blackjack Secrets and Basic Blackjack.
Tommy Hyland
Tommy Hyland is a player advocate and has been very outspoken about the treatment of players in casinos. While he has not done anything illegal, he did run the most successful Blackjack team for more than 25 years.
